Beautiful footage of Iris exploring the countryside and the gardens at Coton Manor in Northamptonshire. Filmed during a project for Sony in March 2015.

I followed Iris through the reeds and sunflakes, down the path into the garden. She stood in front of Pan, companion to the nymphs and all things wild, a Pan Flute rested in his hands. Delicately Iris felt the texture of the bronze and down by the fountain she watched the water dance in the sunlight.

A short film of Iris and Thula at home captured during a project for Sony in March 2015. I teach Iris using topic based learning and that week we were on a 'Sea’ theme so the garden room was decorated and I got out Iris’s Pea Green Boat we had previously made for 'The owl and the pussy cat’ poem. I filled the boat with delights for her to explore and on the table there were sensory activities using coloured rice which went down particularly well with Thula. Of course it wouldn’t be the ocean without bubbles so we had plenty of those too.

To celebrate the publication of my first book I wanted to make a film that would capture the enchanting world of Iris and Thula, so one summers day after I had set up all of Iris’s painting kit outside I sat down in the shade and waited. It wasn’t long before Iris and Thula went to the table and Iris started to paint. I listened to the hum of the bees and watched Thula as she played in the garden. Iris smiled at me as I saw the paint on the paper dance in the dappled light.

One of the most magical places we take Iris and Thula to are the woodlands in the Leicestershire countryside. In late April, early May they change quite dramatically into a sea of Bluebells. In this film we follow Iris and Thula into the woods, seeing sheep along the way (one of Iris’s favourite animals apart from Thula ) Watch out for the owl another of Iris’s passions. By taking Iris to these places I see her open up, she relaxes out in the natural world.

Extract from Chapter 7
'As we rode along the canal towpath Thula’s presence always left a trail of smiles, chatter and laughter as people saw a cat sitting so confidently with her paws over the edge of the basket, leaning forward into the wind with an eager look upon her face. Thula made them smile because she acted differently from what was expected of a cat, bringing something special to their day. I wished everyone could be as accepting and joyful in regard to differences that they encounter in their lives. Thula and Iris were sending out a strong message – that different is brilliant .’
